Overview

• This is a bespoke itinerary suited for private groups, corporations & charities. Please contact us for a quote. • Straddling central Romania and covering a third of its territory are the majestic Carpathian Mountains or Transylvanian Alps as they are also known. Aside from the stunning beauty of the mountains and the rolling foothills, the rich traditions of the region continue to flourish through the warm and friendly locals and their way of life which has changed little through the centuries. Participants will walk through a timeless landscape to reach ancient villages, monasteries and castles including the famous Bran Castle (Dracula). This fully escorted private group trek offers an opportunity to cross the Carpathians and gain an intimate appreciation of rural Romania whilst raising vital funds for charity or working on your team building.

Itinerary

After all of your preparation it's time to pack your bags and board your flight to Romania. Upon arrival at Bucharest Airport you will need to clear customs and make your way to your guesthouse in Bran for the next two nights. Along the way your guide will give you a briefing about the adventure that lays ahead. Tonight you will enjoy your first group dinner as a start of your private challenge.

After breakfast you will meet your guides for a short transfer to today's starting point. Today you will trek to the famous Bran Castle. When you reach Bran you will have time for an optional guided tour of the castle. Most people know Bran Castle as “Dracula’s Castle”, from Bram Stoker’s novel. This story is loosely based on Vlad Tepes who ruthlessly defended this part of Transylvania, and in the process, the legend of his rather gruesome killings inspired the story of Dracula. You will transfer back your accommodation this afternoon.

Today we will head to the Piatra Craiuli National Park by private transfer. Your walk starts with a nice steady climb following woodland trails that are picturesque and rich in birdsong. Your guide will give a talk on cheese making, before you continue to a lovely lunch spot. After lunch you will make your way downhill through open hills before entering a large wooded area along the river. You follow an old track to The Jurassic Zarnesti Canyon where you will meet your vehicle and transfer back to your hotel for dinner.

After breakfast you will check out and have an early morning transfer to the Bucegi National Park. Today’s walk takes participants through a mix of quaint villages where traditional customs and cultures still exist. Picture postcard landscapes can be seen through steep woodland climbs onto the finishing point at Pesters. Here our bus will be waiting to take us to our guesthouse for the night.

Meals:  B,L,D

Leaving the guesthouse you will begin with a slow steady climb to the top of the ridge passing many Sherpa Huts along the way to La Bisericuta. From here you have spectacular views of the Bucegi Mountains and the Valley Bangaleasa below. There will be plenty of time to take photos before we slowly descend into the Valley and the Bucegi National Park. From here you will trek to a second ridge and onto the lunch spot at Poiana Gutanu Meadows for a well deserved rest and packed lunch. Continuing on this afternoon you will make your way back to the guesthouse for a celebration dinner marking the end of our group challenge.

Meals:  B,L,D

After saying farewell to our hosts we will transfer back to Bucharest, also known as "the Eastern Paris", via Peles Castle in Sinaia. You have an optional visit into Peles Castle before continuing onto Bucharest, where the trip concludes. You will arrive back into Bucharest around 15.00 and will have the option to fly back home or stay the evening to explore the city.
