You will walk through a timeless landscape to reach ancient villages, monasteries and castles including the famous Bran castle. This fully escorted charity trek offers an opportunity to cross the Carpathians and gain an intimate appreciation of rural Romania whilst raising vital funds for charity.

After breakfast you will meet your guides for a short transfer to your days starting point. Today you will trek to the famous Bran Castle. The trek starts with a slow ascent through green pastures and traditional farm land before joining a shaded forest track. You will gradually ascend before the forest opens up to reveal a magnificent hill top where you will stop for lunch and take in the wonderful views below! After lunch you will follow a good terrain before descending a very steep hill. The descent is paired with fantastic views of Bran Castle so take your time, go slowly and take it all in. When you reach Bran you will have time for an optional guided tour of the castle. Most people know Bran Castle as “Dracula’s Castle”, from Bram Stoker’s novel. This story is loosely based on Vlad Tepes who ruthlessly defended this part of Transylvania, and in the process, the legend of his rather gruesome killings inspired the story of Dracula. Bran Castle it’s an amazing example of 14th century Gothic architecture that looks like it was carefully placed on top of a mountain. You will transfer back your accommodation this afternoon.
