Embarking on this challenge with trepidation, having never done anything like this before, I decided to just embrace getting out of my comfort zone and give it a go. I found the first trek up Mt Maria an immense challenge and debated if I’d make it to the summit, let alone complete any of the other treks that we’d be faced with. Thanks to the support & perseverance of the wonderful Morgan, I pushed through with her encouragement of just putting one foot in front of the other! To my relief, I made it! Our second day, I decided to take it at an easier pace and surprisingly enjoyed every minute of this hike! Rewarded with spectacular views & a lot of pride! Our third hit-out, with Morgan again as our guide, we enjoyed a beautiful trek through Cradle Mountain NP to Kitchen Hut. While not summiting Cradle, we learned so much from Morgan, whose passion for nature & knowledge was incredible. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have had the experience I did without her encouragement.

DLA Piper had a fantastic experience with Huma Charity Challenge – we sent a team of 10 to Alice Springs to walk the Larapinta Trail in August 2016 in support of both our diversity strategy and our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The trip offered a unique opportunity for a group of women across our five Australian offices to get to know one another and forge stronger relationships and networks, while also increasing their cultural awareness and competency in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We had brilliant guides hiking with us on the Trail, and everyone learnt a great deal from local Arrernte cultural educator Deanella Mack against a backdrop of truly spectacular scenery. It really was an amazing experience and the feedback was nothing but positive from all involved. We would happily recommend Huma and this Larapinta trip to other organisations."

Amazing scenery, amazing food, amazing experience. TROG Cancer Research did a five day trek in the Bay of Fires region in Tasmania and we had a wonderful experience.
