Overview

This private Kenyan and Tanzanian experience hosted by Cassandra (Cass) Treadwell, CEO and Co-Founder of So They Can offers the opportunity to combine community, education and social justice. Spend time meeting the So They Can International family and learning about So They Can's projects in Nakuru and Pokot in Kenya and Babati in Tanzania, while also visiting the Tarengeri National Park for an African Safari experience.

Itinerary

On arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to Sunbird Lodge, a 3 hour drive. Enjoy sunset drinks on the terrace overlooking Lake Elementaita, a delicious dinner and a trip briefing. Overnight Sentrim Elementeita Cottages.

After breakfast visit Aberdare Ranges Primary School and receive a traditional warm African welcome at the morning assembly by the school community, followed by a tour of the school built by So They Can. Meet the wonderful staff and learn about our education plans for Kenya. Visit New Caanan Village (formally the Pipeline IDP Camp) where many of our school children live and where the So They Can story began, including the medical clinic we support. Meet some of the amazing women from our Wezesha (Empower) Business Skills Project. After lunch we pay a special visit to our Miti Mingi Children's Village, home to 120 orphaned and vulnerable children who are safe, loved and nurtured in our care. Meet the mummas who have dedicated their lives to caring for these children. We also stop by our Sew Women Can workshop to meet the team and visit their bibi&me shop where beautiful handmade items are available for purchase. Overnight Sentrim Elementeita Cottages.

After an early breakfast we drive to East Pokot. We spend the afternoon and all day Friday meeting our stakeholders, visiting some of our seven education collaborative schools, our micro finance women, community education support network and some families on our family strengthening program. Overnight Roberts Camp.

Drive to Nairobi and fly to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Overnight African Tulip Hotel, Arusha.

After breakfast, drive to Tarengeri National Park, famous for its elephants, for a full day safari. Overnight Hippo Hotel Babati.

Visit So They Can's Tanzania Projects - Mamire Teachers Training College and some of the 26 schools in our Education Collaborative. Overnight Hippo Hotel.

Depart Babati or perhaps do a safari to the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater.
