World Expeditions wins!

World Expeditions won the inaugural 2008 Leadership Award at the first Responsible Travel and Tourism Forum, (RTTF) in Toronto, Canada.

The Leadership Award was established to recognize an organization's corporate social responsibility practices and was open to tour operators, agents, accommodation providers and destinations. World Expeditions was awarded for its many initiatives, which include efforts to preserve forests in Nepal, and its Community Project Travel program that aims to improve the living conditions of remote communities in many countries across the world. Our program for 2009 includes projects in Peru, Nepal, China, Vietnam, Laos, Tanzania, Kenya, Australia & India.

Our responsible travel policies and initiatives also received recognitions in the past; 'Highly Commended' award for Best in a Mountain Environment category in the First Choice Responsible Tourism Award 2006, and in 2001 the WWF-sponsored 'Environmental Achievement' award in Australia for the publication of our groundbreaking 'Responsible Travel' guidebook.

The annual Responsible Travel and Tourism Forum (RTTF) is organized by Canadian multi-media communications company Baxter Travel Media, and has been developed to help all sectors of the travel and tourism industry to stay current with environmental issues relating to travel.
