Beijing to Lhasa via Chendgu Challenge - Animals Asia Foundation

We commence our journey in one of the most majestic cities, Beijing. Here we visit some of the most historically significant landmarks in China including the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and China's largest man made structure, The Great Wall. After sampling some exquisite cuisine for which China is famous, we board our overnight train to Chengdu where we visit the Moon Bear Rescue Center supported by Animals Asia Foundation, and also the Panda Breeding Research Center. Our journey continues with the famous train ride Chengdu-Lhasa. A unique adventure that will bring us all the way to Tibet. Here we take in the highlights off this ancient city including the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and the Norbulingka.

Animals Asia Foundation was founded by Dr. Jill Robinson MBE in 1998 and is devoted to the welfare of wild, domesticated and endangered species across the region. Animals Asia is an Asia-based, government registered charity headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Australia, Vietnam and China with bear rescue centers in both Vietnam and China.

Animals Asia’s flagship program, End Bear Farming aims to bring the barbaric practice of bear farming and the bile trade to an end. Other projects include Cat and Dog Welfare which campaigns against dog and cat-eating and promotes animal therapy and companion animal education in schools and Action Against Cruelty which seeks to end animal performances in Asian circuses, and endorses “Healing without Harm” principles of traditional Asian medicine.
