Nepal Light up the World Foundation (LUTW) and World Expeditions are proud to present the unique opportunity to take part in a donor Installation tour in Nepal. This will provide participants with the experience of taking part in the transformation of a village by working with the community to install an affordable, efficient, and environmentally-responsible solar powered LED lighting system in rural Nepali homes. With this unique lighting system installed in the village of Ghopte Ghyang, villagers will benefit from safer and cleaner homes, opportunities for education and a better environment for their children. Nepal was the birthplace of LUTW’s global lighting initiative in 1999 by visionary founder, Dr. Dave Irvine-Halliday. He will accompany the team on this extraordinary trip to provide insight and history of LUTW for the tour.

We will be trekking in the Helambu region to reach our village, following the less crowded trails and enjoying the breathtaking views of the central Himalayas. This is an ideal experience for the less experienced trekker as the altitude never exceeds 3,500 m. A perfect and rewarding introduction to Nepal, a country that is filled with the history and culture of the Sherpa people.

Participants will gain hands-on experience and can also take this opportunity to learn about how to be an ambassador for future LUTW projects by experiencing the full gamut of what it takes to implement a development project, including working side-by-side with local members of the community to install the LUTW system in these homes.
